This morning went to Bally’s Total Fitness to take a spin class with Paul Penn. While I was there started thinking about the off-season in California. One thing that I have come to realize is that in California there is no real off-season. California doesn’t really have an off-season. It is simply a different time to train.
Well, off-season has begun and I am just so thankful that my teammates at Team Fremont are helping me build my base before the 2015 season. Off-season has been a mysterious thing since I began this journey of competitive cycling three years ago. I have had to figure out ways to transform my body from a quick twitch focus to a more aerobic based experience. Simply put, that is not an easy task.
This off-season I was taken off the Giant TCR Advanced for a better and lighter bicycle. Very happy to have upgraded to a Cannondale Synapse. Of course, the transition has allowed me to grow mentally. Transitioning between the Giant TCR Advanced and the Cannondale Synapse and upgrading my training from 2014 has not been as smooth as I expected. Change is never easy. So, I understood that going in with the change to the Cannondale Synapse.
Have to thank Team Fremont, Rey Surla, Garry Birch, Brian Gokey, and the incredible Alex Cortez, mechanic par excellence for all the support in 2014.

The main reason that I am blogging is to thank Paul Penn for opening the doors of Bally’s Total Fitness to allow me to attend your spin class while I am transitioning from the Giant TCR Advanced to the Cannondale Synapse this week. Improving my intensity. Improving my aerobic endurance.
Continuing to learn how to expend energy.
Spinning with Paul Penn is rough. He takes me regularly to the pain cave. Thanks for that.

It’s always good to know when our Team mates love more and more this beautiful sports of ours and how they always look forward for improvement and are in the task of searching the Holly Grail of the perfect training/riding, hope you can reach your goals for the fastest approaching 2015 race season also as you mentioned there is “no off season” here in California is just simple others ways to perform that i.e CX/MTB or even spinning class at your local gym others prefers something more relax workout as Yoga or working out at the gym on that core strength!
