Bridging drill – after our usual perfect paceline warm-up we will jump into 2 technique sprints, stop and talk, then do 4 laps of two sprints each (2 to 3 and 4 to 1). That’s 10 sprints. Then we do our “bridging” drill. The group will roll around in a paceline at 21 mph. Depending on what you want out of the workout and how you are feeling you drop off the back of the group and let a gap open. When the gap is 5, 10 or 15 seconds (you count) then you launch across the gap to the pack. You have choices when you join the pack as you can either sit on the back or get to the front and work (at 21 mph!). Modifiers: let a larger gap open if you feel strong; follow wheels if you don’t feel so strong; or simply ride in the paceline. We will do this drill until everyone agrees it is time to go home.
