The video was taken with the Garmin VIRB, which has a variety of built in sensors.  The VIRB captures two files, one for video, and one for the sensor data.  The time stamp for both files is synchronized, and the Garmin editing software allows for data overlay on the video.  I mounted the VIRB below my handlebars, which is convenient since the camera is out of the way.  I think the perspective is a bit low though, and I might try mounting on top of the handlebars next time.  There is also a rearward facing mounting option that goes on the saddle rails, though I would be afraid of capturing a video of empty road if I get shelled out the back of the peloton 🙂

From what I have read, GoPro has superior video quality, but lacks data overlay.  Shimano also has a very nice camera solution that has similar data capturing features to the Garmin, but has a much smaller form factor than the VIRB.  Though I think Shimano has not released their video overlay software yet.

But enough on equipment.  Team Freemont had a very strong presence in this field, and I am sure our structured training plan will yield many good race days for our team members.
