Thursday Night Club meeting and first Aid Presentation

June 3, 2010
7:30 pmto9:01 pm

Team

I am proposing a one evening change in the schedule.

The TNT scheduled for June Thursday 3rd is canceled.

The reasons for this is that the program for the club general meeting that night is about the application of first aid to cycling injuries. I think that it is absolutely essential that we all have some basic first aid knowledge, and this 45 minute lecture will go a little way to making us all feel a little more confident in dealing with the inevitable injuries that happen to active people, especially in cycling.

The lecture is being given by:

Wendy Hums, RN, BSB, CEN
Trauma Program Manager
Stanford University Hospital Emergency Department

I am also in the process of getting some team members who have experience in dealing with the follow up treatments they have found to be useful to provide there insights. And hopefully, Jacon Chun of ESPT, one of our sponsors will be able to chime in with a few words as well, regarding post injury physical therapies.

The general FFBC club meeting is held on the first Thursday of the month at the Silliman Activity Center, Newark, at the far western end of Mowry Blvd.

6800 Mowry Boulevard
Newark, CA 94560

The general club meeting commences at 19:30 and the lecture will start at 20:15

Sunday April 11th 2010

Mark the date in your personal calendars. The club will be requiring assistance before the event (course marking, baking, sign making) and on the day, with Sag support, rest stop assistance, registration, course signs set up and tear down.

A volunteer request form will be forwarded to you in the new year. In the meantime, if you wish to assist, please contact me with how you can help and I will start to gather names and forward to the PV organizers.

Thanks in advance

Garry
