Team Ride out of Sports Basement in Sunnyvale

July 23, 2011
8:30 amto3:00 pm

Sports Basement, an enthusiastic supporter of the club, and a named sponsor for the racing team, have invited us to ride out of their Sunnyvale store on July 23rd, 2011.

Location: 1177 Kern Ave, Sunnyvale

Date: July 23rd, 8:30 am.

Sports Basement will provide a 20% discount for any purchase in the store that day. They will also provide refreshments upon your return, available in an area reserved for the club. These will include nibbles, soda’s, beer and some more substantial treats:)

I am working on getting them to open slightly earlier so we can use rest rooms. The last time we tried this, we were not lucky with the weather and the attendance suffered. We should be golden in July, but it would be terrific if some members can volunteer to lead the various paced rides that are planned. Having some named leaders will, i feel, inspire greater attendance. As Jorge says below, we have route sheets for you to choose from, of various distances and terrains, to suit everyone’s differing abilities and time constraints. I will be leading an F paced ride that will travel to the Los Gatos Creek Trial, around Lexington Reservoir, up Old Santa Cruz highway, Mountain Charlie, Summit, Skyline, Highway 9, Mt. Eden, Stevens Canyon, and back to Sunnyvale (58 miles and 4000 feet). I look forward to reading that you will be leading one of the other paced ride options.

Coyote Creek Circuit Race – Team Target Event #6

July 10, 2011

This event is down in South San Jose, off Highway 101. Richard should know this course, he trains on the hill regularly. The course is about 1.75 miles long with a nice 1/2 mile climb each lap. Not too steep, it favors power climbers.
