Sunday will be our second team ride of the season and the weather looks to be awesome for it. See the previous blog posts for the route.
Couple of things to note:
1. The canyon will be closed to motor traffic, so we have just more bikes and pedestrians to look out for. No one knows what the congestion will look like, so lets assume it will be busy and we should ride accordingly, giving plenty of warning and space to any people we pass.
2. On our return to Niles, depending upon how busy the canyon is, lets think very carefully about opening up any sprints. Next week, when we are riding in traffic, I do not want any sprinting at the end of ride. The only true “hotspot” is the Poggio climb on our way back on Foothill. The Poggio is our name for the small hill just outside of Sunol.
3. Zone 2-3, with most in Z2. Therefore lets be mellow. However, i do know some riders are not ready yet and therefore we will have a “sweep” (West), who has volunteered to corral those who are not staying in the gruppetto. So, if you feel intimated, be aware that we have your back.
4. Same route as last week but with the addition of a ride up Kilkare, which adds 7 miles (3.5 climb, 3.5 descend.
5. We should be back at 11:30 ish. We will leave as close as possible to 08:30. Do not be late.
