2009 Club Evening TT series

First rider off at 6:15pm on the following Wednesdays:

  • July 29 - ITT - Results
  • Aug 5 - ITT - Results
  • Aug 19 - ITT - Results
  • Sept 2 - TTT (yes, a team event. On Sept 5th, we hope to promote the NCNCA TTT championship)

A short series of evening TT’s on the Calaveras 10 mile course, as used this past May by us for our 2nd annual Open 10 mile TT promotion.

The races will be "Training" races only, and to compete you will need to join the FFBC. Membership only costs $10 for the remaining months of the year. Each event will cost $10 entry per rider.

We are not planning on providing any prizes, just a competitive situation with proper timekeeping and course marshals.

The proposed dates for these events are all on Wednesday Evenings, July 29th, August 5th, August 19th and September 2nd. The last event is designed to be a Team Time Trial.

The first rider will start at 18:15, and riders departing at 1 minute intervals. We are hoping that riders who are planning on racing in our next scheduled open NCNCA promotion on September 5th (pending permits) will use our evening races to dial in their fitness, bikes and technique. Our September 5th event is proposed to be the NCNCA Championship 4/3 person TTT.

Here is how it will work

Arrive at the registration in plenty of time to join the club by filling out our simple Club membership form, sign our evening TT series release form and collect your number. Please bring completed, signed forms with you if at all possible - it will speed up registration. At registration you will be given a start time, early arrivals get the first start time, etc. Remember your start time.

When appropriate, present yourself at the starter and away you go.... Results will be posted here.

Course details / Parking etc

The course starts on Calaveras Road, 300 yards south of where I-680 crosses. Go 5 miles on Calaveras Road, which will include a 1 mile climb to the turn. U-turn at the location indicated by signs and course marshal. Scream back to finish 250 yards south of the I-680 Bridge.

Parking will be limited at the start area. There is ample parking in Sunol at the Niles Canyon railroad depot, where a porta-potty is also located. Other parking is at Sunol Glen School or on the streets of Sunol. No parking on highway 84 between Sunol and the start, it is too busy and not really wide enough.

We will have a cut off so that athletes are not on the course in the dark. We think 60 riders will be about the maximum that can be accommodated.
